BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been admitted to a Dhaka hospital as he complained of chest pain.
Vice Chairman of the party Dr AJDM Zahid Hossain said Mirza Fakhrul has been placed on ‘full rest’ at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Gulshan’s United Hospital.
“He experienced chest pains while at home this morning and was rushed to the hospital,” Hossain said on Monday when contacted by bdnews24.
“He is receiving care under the supervision of heart specialist Dr Momenuzzaman,” he added.
Fakhrul’s mother Fatima Amin was also recently admitted to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital due to complications from old age. The senior BNP leader was preparing to visit her in hospital when he himself experienced the medical episode.
Mirza Fakhrul was diagnosed with a carotid artery block while in prison in 2016. He later received treatment in the US and Singapore.
