Both the stock markets were down further on Monday, extending their losing streak for six consecutive sessions.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), settled at 6197, after losing 7.77 points or 0.12 per cent over the previous day.
The DS30 index comprising blue chips also fell 3.67 points or 0.26 per cent to close at 1,376.
The Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.94 points or 0.17 per cent to finish at 2,246.
Turnover, most important indicator of the market, however, rose and total turnover on the major bourse amounted to Tk 4.91 billion, which was nearly 14 per cent higher than the previous day’s turnover of Tk 4.32 billion.
The losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 333 issues traded, 170 closed lower, 116 closed higher and 47 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also ended lower with CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) shedding more than 4 points to close at 19,186.
The Selective Categories Index - CSCX – also fell 3.76 points to finish at 11,600.
Losers beat gainers as 121 issues closed lower, 120 closed higher and 26 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 8.66 million shares and mutual fund units worth more than Tk 228 million in turnover.
