Stocks ended mostly higher on Monday, the first trading session of 2018, as investors went on positive mood to start a new year.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) both opened positive at the morning and the rally continued till the end in marginally higher.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, advanced 9.89 points or 0.15 per cent to settle at 6,254. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 0.75 points or 0.05 per cent to 1391 points.
However, DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 0.67 points or 0.07 per cent to 2,281.
Out of 333 issues traded on the DSE trading floor, 185 nudged higher, 110 declined and 38 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse also ended on positive note with its All Shares Price Index, CAPSI – advancing 97 points to settle at 19365.
The Selective Categories Index of the CSE also gained 57 points to 11706 points.
Out of 2018 issues traded on CSE floor, 143 issues gained, 55 declined and 20 issues remained unchanged.
