Speakers at an online discussion accentuated the need for easing policies on business to consumer (BtC) cross-border trading.

They said trading in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world during the coronavirus pandemic is mostly online and afterwards it will be through digital platforms.

The speakers said Bangladesh has huge potential in this regard if the government provides policy support.

The webiner was hosted by e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh(e-CAB) cross-border standing committee on the post-corona cross-border trading opportunity on Saturday night.

At the virtual event, e-CAB general secretary Mohammad Abdul Wahed Tomal said e-commerce service providers in the country are doing very well during this pandemic.

"They will also do their job good in cross-border trading if they get policy support," he said, adding that e-commerce is the only future.

In reply, Hafizur Rahman, director general of World Trade Organisation cell at commerce ministry said Bangladesh is not much experienced in cross-border e-commerce.
