Stocks witness positive trend in early trading

The prices of most of the shares witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading Wednesday as investors are active on selective large-cap shares ahead of monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous four days’ upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early trading.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 6.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse fell 5.0 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 4.83 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 6.23 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 4.83 points or 0.08 per cent to reach at 6,211 points at 11:00am.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also gained 4.93 points or 0.21 per cent to reach at 2,307 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 1.58 points or 0.11 per cent to stand at 1,435 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 555 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 119 advanced, 62 declined and 56 remained unchanged.

BBS Cables was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 58 million changing hands, closely followed by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Tk 50 million, GrameenphoneTk  36 million, National Tubes Tk 20 million and Square Pharmaceuticals Tk 18 million.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CAPSI- advancing 6.23 points to stand at 19,163, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 2.09 points to stand at 11,570 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 35 gained, 27 declined and 20 issues remained unchanged with Tk 26 million in turnover.
