Trading on the two local bourses will resume tomorrow (Sunday) after the five-day Eid holidays, officials said.

The trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will begin at 10:30 am and continue until 2:30 pm while the offices will begin at 9:30 am and continue until 5.30 pm.

Trading and official activities on the bourses remained closed from August 21 to 25 on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha, including weekly holidays.

The prime bourse of the country performed well before Eid holidays, taking the core index of the DSE above 5,500-mark.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 32.69 points or 0.59 per cent to settle at 5,571 points on August 20, the last trading day before the Eid vacation.

The prime index of the DSE added more than 192 points or 3.60 per cent in the past four consecutive sessions before Eid holidays.

The two other indices -- the DS30 index and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) -- also followed the suit to close at 1,948 and 1,257, after gaining 9.78 points and 7.06 points respectively.

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, however, fell to Tk 4.45 billion, which was 21 per cent lower than the previous day's Tk 5.60 billion on August 20 as many investors left Dhaka for celebrating Eid festival.

The port city bourse CSE also ended higher on August 20 with its CSE All Share Price Index -- CASPI -- soaring 106 points to settle at 17,111 and the Selective Categories Index -- CSCX -- advancing 64 points to finish at 10,362.

The gainers beat losers as 149 issues closed higher and 67 ended lower with 19 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city bourse traded 12.93 million shares and mutual fund units worth nearly Tk 284 million in turnover.
