Mercantile Bank appoints new MD

Mercantile Bank Limited has appointed Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

Earlier, he served as the Additional Managing Director and Chief Business Officer of the bank. He worked at NCC Bank prior to joining Mercantile Bank, according to a press statement.

Mr Chowdhury started his banking career in 1983 as a probationary officer in National Bank after completing his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Masters Degree in Marketing from the University of Dhaka.

He attended numerous trainings, seminars and workshops on different aspects of banking held both in home and abroad. He visited many countries including USA, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore to enrich his professional knowledge.
