Motorcycle registrations jump in 2018

Motorcycle registrations across the country witnessed a significant rise in 2018 compared to that of 2017.

A total of 395,603 motorcycles were registered in 2018 while the number was 326,550 in 2017, according to statistics provided by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

The data also showed that the number of motorcycle registrations stood at 104,064 in Dhaka city during the period under review.

With the latest, a total of 244,6522 motorcycles had been registered with the BRTA until 2018 across the country, it added.

Several ride-sharing companies, like Pathao and Uber, launched their bike services respectively in 2016 and 2017 in Bangladesh, partly contributing to the rise of bike registrations in recent years.
