Poland mourns stabbed Gdansk mayor

Thousands of Poles have been attending the funeral of Pawel Adamowicz, the mayor of Gdansk who was fatally stabbed last Sunday, reports BBC.

Large screens around St Mary's Basilica in the city and across the country broadcast Saturday's service live.

Mr Adamowicz, a liberal critic of Poland's ruling party, served as the mayor of Gdansk for 20 years.

President Andrzej Duda and European Council President Donald Tusk were among those attending the ceremony.
