Sajid Javid has become new Home Secretary of the United Kingdom after previous interior minister Amber Rudd's exit.

British Prime Minister Theresa May appointed Sajid as the new home boss on Monday, reports Reuters.

Pakistani origin Sajid is the UK's first home secretary from an ethnic minority background.

Javid, 48, a former managing director at Deutsche Bank, was previously Communities and Local Government Secretary.

BBC said, the son of a Pakistani bus driver said he would review immigration policy to make sure it was fair and people were treated with "dignity and respect".

Earlier, Ms Rudd quit after over the treatment of some long-term Caribbean residents wrongly labelled illegal immigrants.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said Ms Rudd resigned because she gave information to MPs that was "not correct".
