360° strategy contest introduces participants with all segments of business

With a view to making learners' knowledge extensive about business and building up their ability by giving them all the tastes of business in one single box by 360° strategy, East West University Business Club (EWUBC) organised a nationwide business strategy competition named Briefcase 2019. This was an inter-university business strategy competition.

The objective was to introduce participants with every segment of business such as marketing, supply chain, management and finance.

The competition was mainly divided into four sections where the participants learnt about all aspects of business. The competition started with a total of 213 teams from all over the country.

'Round 1: Building a 360° marketing campaign', 'Round 2: On spot case', 'Grand finale- Case solving and case development' took place on July 27, July 29 and August 04, 2019 respectively. After online screening, 36 teams participated in the first round. From there, only 16 best teams participated in the semi-final round, 'Round 2: On spot case’. From these rounds, the top eight finalist teams moved to compete in the finale. The organisers arranged an wonderful event to unveil the competition trophy on the grand finale and gala day.

The trophy of Briefcase 2019 was unveiled through a celebratory concert at the 20-year anniversary of the East West University Business Club.

In the grand finale the judges were MA Mahmud, brand manager, Square Food and Beverage Limited and Risalat Siddique, the man of steel, Analyzen.

The chief guest of the business pitch and grand gala was Syed Manzur Elahi, chairperson, Board of Trustees, East West University and Zulfiqar Haydar, chief people officer, BRAC. The programme chair was Dr Farhana Ferdousi, associate professor and chairperson, Department of Business Administration, East West University. There also was AZM Shafiqul Alam, treasurer, East West University as a guest of the event. The moderators of the club were also present. On behalf of the moderators, Dr Md Abdul Momen, associate professor of East West University, shared a few words with the audience.

"Team Surface" from Dhaka University became the champion of the competition. "Team Impact" from North South University became the first runner-up and "Team Game Plan" from Bangladesh University of Professionals became the second runner up.

The champion team received a prize money of Tk 25,000 with a "Tour" from "Tourbuzz" and an internship offer from Business Times, first runner up got Tk 15,000 and second runner-up got Tk 10,000 prize money.
