Autorickshaw drivers have announced a 48-hour strike from November 27 for an eight-point charter of demands, including cancellation of app-based transport services.

Dhaka and Chittagong chapters of CNG Autorickshaw Workers' Unity Council made the announcement to observe strike in Dhaka and Chittagong cities at Dhaka Reporters' Unity on Wednesday.

The organisation will also hold a month-long protest in the two cities.

The other programmes include submitting a memorandum to the road transport and bridges ministry after demonstration in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on November 22.

The protesters will organise a rally in Chittagong on November 30 and lay siege to the BRTA headquarters in Dhaka on December 10.

According to bdnews24.com, the leaders also threatened a nonstop strike in the two cities if their demand is not met by January 15.

The council's Dhaka district committee Member Secretary Shakhawat Hossain Dulal said their Chittagong unit would organise another press conference at the port city's press club on November 19.

“We will continue the strike nonstop if our demands are not met," Shakhawat said.
