Police have recovered the bodies of two tourists from a gorge on Keokradong hill in Bandarban's Ruma Upazila.
The bodies were found near Boga Lake View Point along the Ruma-Keokradong road around 11:00 pm on Thursday, Ruma Police Chief Manas Barua said.
The dead were identified as Jamir Uddin, 32, from Borhanuddin Upazila in Bhola, and Rokaiya Akter, 30, from Lalbagh in Dhaka, bdnews24.com reports.
Citing their guide, officer Barua said the pair were among 10 tourists who left the capital on six motorcycles late on Wednesday and reached Ruma on Thursday afternoon before checking into a cottage near Boga Lake for the night.
After visiting Boga Lake View Point around 5:30 pm, eight tourists returned, but Jamir and Rokaiya rode past the viewpoint despite the guide's warning, he added.
The guide, Md Ismail, informed the Boga Lake army camp about the missing pair around 6:00 pm.
A search involving the army, police and local residents later recovered the bodies from the nearby gorge around 11:00 pm.
Police officer Manas said legal formalities were underway and the cause of the incident was being investigated.
