Foreigners take $130.6m out of Bangladesh in 10 months of FY24

Indians remit over $50m from Bangladesh alone during the period

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali has said the foreigners, living in Bangladesh, took a total of $130.58 million to their respective countries in the first ten months of the 2023-24 financial year (FY).

At the same time, Indians living in this country took away 50.60 million dollars during the same period, said the minister.

The finance minister in response to a written question of Independent MP elected from Faridpur-3 Constituency AK Azad divulged the information in Parliament, reports UNB.

He said that the annual income information of foreign nationals living in Bangladesh is not stored in Bangladesh Bank.

“From July to April of the current financial year (2023-24), foreign nationals living in Bangladesh have taken 130.58 million dollars from their income to their country.”

Giving the information about the number of dollars taken by the citizens of any country, the minister said, India 50.60 million dollars, China $14.56 million, Sri Lanka $12.71 million, Japan $6.89 million, Korea $6.21 million, Thailand $5.30 million, United Kingdom $3.59 million, Pakistan $3.24 million, United States $3.17 million, Malaysia $2.40 million, citizens of other countries took 21.92 million dollars to their country.
