Heavy rain has caused widespread waterlogging across Dhaka University, forcing several departments to cancel classes.
Rain that began on Saturday night left large parts of the campus under water by Sunday, inundating the Administrative Building, Teachers' Club, Central Playground, Nilkhet, the Palashi intersection and several residential halls, including Nawab Sir Salimullah Muslim, Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall and Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall.
Students in the Kuwait Maitree, Fazilatunnessa and Shahidullah halls were unable to leave their dormitories.
Classes in international relations, mass communication and journalism, Bangla and botany were cancelled, while an Institute of Education and Research exam was postponed.
A large krishnachura tree also toppled in the Mall Chattar area, damaging several trees but causing no casualties.
