Speakers stressed the importance of early cancer detection and timely treatment during a recent cancer awareness programme organised by India’s HCG Cancer Hospital, in collaboration with MedLab BD, at Hotel Rahmania Rooftop in Motijheel, Dhaka.

They said many cancer cases can be treated successfully if diagnosed during the early stages and spoke about modern cancer treatment technologies, including Gene Testing and CyberKnife, according to a press release.

The programme also highlighted the need for proper oncology consultation before undergoing surgery in suspected cancer-related cases. The specialists encouraged patients to seek expert opinions and avoid treatment delays caused by misinformation or lack of awareness.

Experts said precision-based treatment planning is becoming increasingly important in improving cancer treatment outcomes while reducing damage to healthy tissues.

Representatives of HCG Cancer Hospital discussed support services available for Bangladeshi patients, including medical coordination, second opinion support and assistance related to treatment visa processing.

Two cancer survivors shared their experiences during the event and spoke about the importance of receiving timely treatment under experienced oncology specialists.

At the programme, Achintya Bhusan Sharma, regional head, International Sales & Marketing of HCG Cancer Hospital, was honoured for his contribution to international patient support and cancer awareness initiatives involving Bangladeshi patients.

The main speakers at the event were Dr. Prabhu Nesargikar, GI surgical oncologist, and Dr. A. S. Kirthi Koushik, senior consultant, Radiation Oncology, from HCG Cancer Hospital, India.

The programme was attended by around 40 to 45 invited guests from different professional backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, business representatives and bankers.
