A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed the Bangladesh Awami League organising secretary Ahmad Hossain and former chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail, who was sacked from the Bangladesh Navy, on a 4-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Jubo Dal leader Nabin Talukdar in the capital’s Paltan area during the student movement.
Magistrate Jasim Uddin of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court passed the order today.
Ahmad was arrested from Dhaka’s Rampura and Sohail from Banani on Tuesday, DMP sources said.
The Bangladesh Navy issued a letter to Sohail on Monday sending him to compulsory retirement. He was arrested the next day, according to bdnews24.com.
The Navy took the step against Sohail after complaints of corruption, forceful abduction, and killing were raised against him.
Awami League Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain entered parliament after winning the Netrokona-5 seat in the 12th general election.
