Bangladesh looks for foreign investment in railway sector, minister says

The government is looking for foreign investment to develop railway communications in the country.

Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan came up with the statement during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador in Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan at Rail Bhaban in the city on Sunday, reports BSS.

The minister apprised the Turkish ambassador about the projects and plans undertaken for development of the country’s railway sector.

He said, “We are looking for foreign investment in the sector”.

The minister said, “We have a master plan for the development of the railway sector and we are taking different projects as per the plan”.

Meanwhile, the Turkish envoy expressed his country’s keenness to invest in the railway sector in Bangladesh.

“Railway is an environment friendly, easy and affordable communication system in any country,”  Turan said.

The envoy expressed his hoped that opportunities for investing in the railway sector would be created in the future as an important bilateral relation exists between Bangladesh and Turkey.
