A 24-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate, Mohammad Yousuf, has been killed after being crushed by a collapsing wall at his workplace in Saudi Arabia’s Dammam, according to officials and witnesses.

The accident occurred on Friday while he was working at a newly constructed building, bdnews24.com reports.

Yousuf, a native of Mahtabpur village in Noakhali, had travelled to Saudi Arabia just four months ago in search of employment.

According to witness and site Supervisor Mohammad Hasib, Yousuf was breaking a wall for electrical work at a Saudi national’s newly built house when it suddenly gave way and collapsed on him, killing him instantly.

Expatriate journalist in the UAE and neighbour Manik Hossain said Yousuf had lost both parents in childhood.

He is survived by his wife and a 1-year-old daughter.

His body is now kept at a Dammam hospital morgue.

Authorities are completing legal formalities to repatriate it to Bangladesh soon.
