The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair of 2018 experienced record sales of books compared to previous years.
The book fair concluded on Wednesday with the presence of huge booklovers at Bangla Academy premises as well as adjacent Suhrawardy Udyan areas.
According to a primary estimation, the largest literary event fetched revenue of about Tk. 800 million for writers and publishers.
Information centre of the Bangla Academy said book sales reached Tk 654 million in 2017.
It was Tk 405 million in 2016 and Tk 219.5 million in 2015.
The book fair, one of the biggest in the world, also witnessed a year-on-year rise in number of published books.
According to UNB, some 4,590 books hit the month-long Ekushey Book Fair whereas the number was 2,963 five years back.
