A Chinese company, Beijing Urban Construction Group Ltd (BUCG), has secured a contract for implementation of Sylhet Osmani International Airport Extension (1st phase) Project with an expenditure of Tk 21.17 billion.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) took the decision after reviewing a proposal from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) during a meeting on Wednesday, reports BSS.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the meeting held at the Finance Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said that a total of six firms submitted their proposals for the Sylhet Osmani International Airport extension project where BUCG turned out to be the lowest bidder.
The top government official informed that the meeting approved a proposal from the Directorate General of Food for procuring 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat from M/S Agrocorp International Pte Ltd, Singapore with Tk 1.13 billion on international tender method under package-3 for boosting the government stock of wheat for the current fiscal year.
The Cabinet Secretary said the meeting also approved a proposal from the Public Works Department (PWD) for awarding the contract to National Development Engineers Ltd for constructing a 16-storey building with other ancillary works in the capital’s Fulbaria under the project for upgrading the Government Employees Hospital into 500-bed with Tk 1.35 billion.
He, however, said that the meeting decided to retender the public works of package-1 under the Upgradation of Kishoreganj (Binnati)-Pakundia-Mirzapore-Tok district highway into due standard.
