A court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain and his wife, Syeda Monalisa Islam, after separate requests from the ACC.

They are accused of abusing power and gaining wealth beyond their known income. The information was confirmed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md. Aktarul Islam.

The order was given on Monday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez.

ACC Assistant Director Khorshed Alam applied to seize their tax records.

According to the complaint, Farhad Hossain is accused of using his position to illegally gain assets worth about Tk 11.1 million, which do not match his known income. He also has 12 bank accounts with suspicious transactions, including deposits of about Tk 65.4 million and withdrawals of about Tk 63.5 million.

A case has been filed over these allegations. The ACC said seizing his tax records is necessary for proper investigation.

In a separate complaint, his wife Monalisa Islam is accused of gaining assets worth about Tk 940 million with his support, which also do not match known sources of income. The ACC said her tax records are also needed for the investigation.
