Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested five members of the banned militant outfit Ansar-al-Islam from the capital on Sunday night.
The arrested members are Md Nizam Uddin, Md Rayhan Bhuiyan, Md Hanif Uddin Sumon, Sheikh Iftekharul Islam alias Arif and Mufti Muslim Uddin alias Muslim, said M Elias Sharif, Joint Commissioner of Police, at a press conference at DMP’s media centre on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, CTTC members arrested them from the capital’s Sabujbag area, he said adding that three machetes, three bags and four smart phones were also recovered from their possession.
A case was filed in this connection at Sabujbag Police Station, reports BSS.
