The body of a suspected drug dealer was recovered from Karamdi area of Gangni upazila, Meherpur on early Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Nazmul Hossain, 24, son of Nazrul Islam of Sahratala in the upazila. He was wanted in five cases.
Police said they suspect the man was killed in a gunfight between two gangs of drug dealers, reports a news agency.
Harendranath Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Gangni police, said a team was sent to Karamdi in the early hours of Wednesday after learning about the gang war.
"The criminals fled as soon as police reached the spot," he said.
Later, police recovered the body of Nazmul, a firearm, one kg of hemp, and a motorcycle.
