Dhaka University (DU) authorities have launched a shuttle bus service for three months on an experimental basis to ease students’ travel within the campus.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the service at a function in the premises of the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building this afternoon, reports BSS.
Addressing the function Vice-Chancellor said, the pilot project would be expanded if the bus service brings positive changes in the transportation system.
DU Pro VC (admin) Professor Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Proctor Dr. Saifuddin Ahmed, Registrar Munsi Shams Uddin Ahmed and Provost Standing Committee Convener Professor Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun were present.
Initially, three non-AC minibuses started plying from today which will operate from 7 am to 9 pm on three routes.
The first route is from Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall to Nilkhet crossing via Amar Ekushey Hall, Shahidullah Hall, Curzon Hall, Mokarram Bhaban, Science Annex Bhaban, TSC, Arts building and Mall Chattar.
The second route is from Nilkhet intersection to Sufia Kamal Hall by crossing Mall Chattar, Business Faculty, Lecture Theater Building, Modhu’s Canteen, Central Library, Fine Arts Faculty, TSC, Institute of Nutrition and Food Science and Curzon hall.
The third route is from Sufia Kamal Hall to Nilkhet intersection via Amar Ekushey Hall, Shahidullah Hall, Curzon Hall, Mokarram Bhaban, Science Annex Bhaban, Jagannath Hall, SM Hall, Fuller Road and Mall Chattar.
