DU ‘respectfully’ separates from 7 govt colleges, hands over responsibilities to Dhaka Central University
Dhaka University (DU) has officially separated from seven affiliate government colleges, paving the way for them to become part of the new Dhaka Central University.
The DU administration officially handed over all administrative, academic and financial responsibilities of the seven government colleges and all information, photographs and fees for conducting admission tests of students applying for admission in the 2024-25 academic year to the authorities of the newly proposed institution, reports bdnews24.com.
On Thursday, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan made the hand-off to Dhaka Central University Interim Administrator Prof AKM Elias at a ceremony held at the DU Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, according to the Public Relations Department of the university.
With this, the “honourable separation” between the seven government colleges and Dhaka University is finally complete, a statement said.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof Mamun Ahmed and other senior officials in the DU administration, the heads of different departments and the principals of the colleges were also present for the event.
Vice-Chancellor Niaz expressed his sincere gratitude to all those involved in the separation process and wished for the new university’s success.
