Former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy was sent to Kashimpur Women’s Jail in Gazipur on Friday in connection with the killing of a garment worker during the July uprising.
She was brought to the jail around 2 pm, Senior Jail Superintendent Kawalin Nahar confirmed.
Early in the morning, Ivy was arrested in a case linked to the death of garment worker Minarul Islam on 20 July last year.
Later, around 10am, police produced her before the Narayanganj Judicial Magistrate’s Court, which held a hearing and ordered her to be sent to jail.
The court has set May 26 for the next hearing.
