After my father's demise, I have taken another look at his limitless contribution and have realized what he did for me since my childhood. I have appreciated the challenges my father must have gone through. I lost him four years ago. However, his physical absence till now hurts me a lot. I had totally lost a hold of myself and was upset all the time as I had never experienced a death of a close one before -- I didn't know how to accept it.
His death anniversary (July 17) usually triggers a range of emotions in my life as deep love and connection we have shared. It is natural to experience feelings of sadness, longing for him to come back and a profound sense of loss.
Today I will talk a little about the departed father who is far away from me but always I find him inside of my heart like a shining star. Abdullah M. Hasan was much an introvert and reclusive journalist.
He was born on May 26, 1948 in Bogura district. He worked as news editor in various leading English newspapers in the country, including The Daily Star, The Bangladesh Times, The Sun and The New Nation. His last working station was another leading English newspaper, The Financial Express. He worked there as News Editor also. He worked diligently and honestly even before his demise.
His personality was unique, powered with self-etiquette and well-behavior. He was very happy in his family life as well as professional life.
And even after his demise, his good deeds have brought him more respects and honours.
After passing HSC from Fauzdarhat Cadet College, he got admitted himself Dhaka University and completed two Masters degrees, one in General History and the other in Journalism. He later received a Berlin Fellowship in Journalism.
His modesty and honesty in his professional life has put him in a high position in journalism.
