Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque on Wednesday said the government will spend Tk 30 billion as subsidy for the mechanisation of agriculture work as finding agricultural labour is a problem now-a-days.
“Finding workers in agricultural work have become a problem at present time…. so we started mechanisation of agriculture sector and Tk 30 billion will be spent as subsidy to this end,” he said.
He was addressing the unveiling of cover of a book titled ‘Fertilizer Recommendation Handbook-2018’ as the chief guest in city’s Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) auditorium, an official release said.
Razzaque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will do everything whatever it is needed for development of the agriculture and farmers as the country has attained autarky in food under her dynamic leadership.
With BARC chairman Dr Md Kabir Ikramul Haque in the chair, the programme also attended, among others, by Parliamentary standing Committee Member on Agriculture Abdul Mannan and Agriculture Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman.
SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) Director Dr Shaikh Mohammad Bokhtiar gave a presentation of the handbook, reports BSS.
