Jamaat wins all four seats in Nilphamari

Candidates of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have secured victory in all four parliamentary constituencies in Nilphamari in the 13th national election.

The results were announced on Thursday night after vote counting by District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman.

In Nilphamari-1 (Domar-Dimla), Jamaat candidate Maulana Abdus Sattar was elected with 149,214 votes from 154 centres. His nearest rival, BNP-led alliance candidate Maulana Manzurul Islam Afendi, who contested with the sheaf of paddy symbol, received 118,160 votes.

In Nilphamari-2 (Sadar), Jamaat candidate Alfaruq Abdul Latif won the seat, securing 145,202 votes from 134 centres. BNP candidate Shaharin Islam Chowdhury Tuhin obtained 134,579 votes.

In Nilphamari-3 (Jaldhaka), Jamaat’s Maulana Obaidullah Salafi bagged 108,560 votes from 105 centres, defeating BNP candidate Syed Ali, who received 89,102 votes.

In Nilphamari-4 (Saidpur-Kishoreganj), Jamaat candidate Hafez Abdul Muntakim was elected with 124,865 votes from 169 centres. His nearest rival, BNP candidate Abdul Gafur Sarkar, secured 81,526 votes.

Following the announcement of the results, Jamaat leaders, activists and supporters brought out victory processions in different parts of the district.
