Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has called for the temporary suspension of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, as well as other board and university examinations, citing the worsening flood situation, heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions across the country.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir urged the Ministry of Education to take immediate action on humanitarian grounds.
Continuous heavy rainfall, flash floods and hill torrents in seven districts had severely disrupted exam preparations for millions of students, the student leaders said.
They also noted that students and their guardians were facing serious safety risks, psychological stress and acute transportation difficulties.
Given the prevailing situation, the JCD leaders said it was necessary to temporarily suspend the ongoing HSC examinations, along with other board and university examinations, until conditions improve.
