Road Transport and Highway Division Secretary Nazrul Islam on Thursday requested the power ministry to keep CNG refuelling stations open round the clock for seven days before and five days after the Eid-ul-Fitr.
He came up with the request while talking to reporters after a meeting at the secretariat.
Islam claimed that the condition of roads this year is better than the previous years and the authorities concerned will take steps immediately if there are any issues.
"There won't be any public suffering on the road [during the Eid holidays]," he said. "Trucks won't be allowed on highways for three days before and after the Eid."
Drives will be conducted for checking ticket prices and monitoring the ticket counters, UNB reported quoting the secretary.
Three vigilance teams will remain active at three big bus stations of the capital and a control room will be opened at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) for checking unfit vehicles, Nazrul Islam added.
