Mozammel Haque Khan becomes ACC commissioner

Former senior secretary Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan joined as a Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday.

Mozammel Haque served as the Public Administration Secretary before joining as one of the commissioners of ACC, reports UNB.

He replaced one of the members of three-member Anti-Corruption Commission Nasir Uddin Ahmed as Commissioner Nasir's term expired on June 26.

The government constituted a five-member selection committee headed by Supreme Court Appellate Division`s justice Mohammed Hussain Siddiqui to appoint ACC`s new commissioner.

The committee proposed two names for the post of the commissioner to the President. The president nominated one of them as the new member of the anti-corruption commission.

According to the ACC Act, three persons become members of this commission. Of the three members, the President appoints one as chairman.

The current chair of the ACC Iqbal Mahmood joined as an administration cadre officer of the 81st batch while the new commissioner attended his job as an administration cadre officer of the 82ndbatch.

Dr Mozammel Haque Khan will serve as the ACC Commissioner for next five years as per the ACC act.
