In response to the call for a protest rally by the ‘Bangladesh Civil Society’ organisation, which aims to condemn the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission (AHC) in Agartala, Tripura, security has been heightened around the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
From Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement agencies have been stationed on various roads surrounding the high commission, particularly in the Shahjadpur Bashthola area, which has seen a heavy security presence.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from the Gulshan division have set up barricades on the road leading to the high commission from Bashthola, with additional support from the Armed Police Battalion (APBN). Military personnel have also been stationed in the area to ensure security.
While local residents are still allowed to pass through, they are being subjected to security checks. However, access to the area leading to the high commission has been restricted for others.
Earlier, on Monday night, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Diplomatic Security Division increased security around the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
