Most of Bangladesh’s 3,000 overseas recruiting agencies are involved in irregularities, State Minister Md Nurul Haque Nur has said.
Nur said on Thursday the government would take a tougher stance to bring discipline to the migration sector.
“We will cancel the licences of fake and irregular recruiting agencies,” he said.
The state minister also warned that bribery and other irregularities in obtaining loans from Probashi Kallyan Bank would not be tolerated.
On Malaysia’s labour market reopening, Nur said Dhaka is in talks with Kuala Lumpur to ensure a transparent and low-cost recruitment process.
“We want to avoid the controversial practices of the past and create a transparent process so Bangladeshis can migrate at a lower cost,” he said.
Md Mokhtar Ahmed, the ministry secretary, said magistrates would be assigned to the ministry, BMET and the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board to ensure swift action on complaints.
