Bourses witness volatility in early trading

Stocks witnessed volatile trading in early hour of trading Tuesday as investors are active both sides of trading fence.

Following the previous day’s correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened marginally lower amid low trading activities.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell nearly 7.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city bourse lost more than 4.0 points at 10:30am.

After first hour of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 7.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of the bourse fell 5.0 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 7.42 points or 0.13 per cent to reach at 5,424 points at 11:00am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 4.27 points to reach at 2015 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.72 points to reach at 1,260 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1.18 billion when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 137 advanced, 90 declined and 48 remained unchanged.

Intraco Refueling Station was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 106 million changing hands, closely followed by Miracle Industries Tk 73 million, Advent Pharma Tk 62 million, Beximco Tk 53 million and Queen South Textile Tk 48 million.

However, the port city bourse–the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)–saw negative trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-losing 5.0 points to stand at 16,737, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index–CSCX –also fell 2.83 points to stand at 10,129 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 33 gained, 34 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with Tk 35 million in turnover.
