Abdul Quaium Chowdhury joins SBAC Bank as AMD

Eminent banker Abdul Quaium Chowdhury has joined SBAC Bank PLC as Additional Managing Director (AMD).

Prior to joining SBAC Bank, he served as Deputy Managing Director of The Premier Bank PLC. With over three decades of banking experience, he has worked successfully at leading banks and built a strong record of leadership and professionalism, according to a media release. 

Mr Chowdhury started his banking career in 1994 as a Probationary Officer at IFIC Bank PLC, where he served for more than eight years. He later had a distinguished 20-year tenure at Southeast Bank Limited, where he held key positions including Manager of Principal Branch and Dhanmondi Branch, and served in the Foreign Trade Services Division, among other important roles. In January 2023, he joined The Premier Bank PLC. as Deputy Managing Director and carried out his responsibilities with dedication and success.

Over his 32-year banking career, Mr Chowdhury has demonstrated strong expertise in strategic planning, achieving business targets, effective leadership, and timely decision-making. He has also made significant contributions in ensuring asset quality and promoting good governance. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the banking sector, he has received several awards and has been honored multiple times as Best Manager.

Mr Chowdhury obtained his Bachelor’s (Honours) and Master’s degrees in International Relations from the University of Dhaka.

He has also participated in various seminars and training workshops on economics and banking both at home and abroad, the release adds.
