Young professionals need early corporate exposure through structured internship programmes to bridge the country's growing skills gap, while stronger collaboration between academia and industry is essential to prepare graduates with practical, job-ready skills, speakers said on Wednesday.
The observations came at the opening ceremony of a day-long Intern Job Fair organised by Bdjobs.com at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in the capital.
The fair aimed to bridge the professional experience gap for fresh graduates by connecting them with paid internship opportunities.
Nearly 10,000 fresh graduates from various disciplines attended the event and applied for paid internship positions offered by participating employers.
A key attraction of the fair was the day-long interview session, 'Test Your Interview Competency', designed to help graduates improve their interview skills and build confidence.
A total of 100 leading local and multinational companies participated in the fair with plans to recruit around 2,500 paid interns. Large crowds of job seekers visited the company stalls throughout the day.
