BRAC Bank wins three awards from AsiaMoney

BRAC Bank Limited has won 3 international accolades in Asiamoney Best Bank Awards.

Hong Kong-based magazine, Asiamoney, has awarded BRAC Bank the “Best Domestic Bank”, the “Best Digital Bank” (For bKash Limited) and the “Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility”.

This is the first time BRAC Bank earned three awards in one international award ceremony, said a statement.

Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, Deputy Managing Director & CRO, and Zara Jabeen Mahbub, Head of Communications, formally received the awards from Euromoney Editor Clive Horwood at “Asiamoney Best Bank Awards 2018” at JW Marriot Hotel in Hong Kong recently.

In the award citation Asiamoney noted, under the stewardship of the Managing Director & CEO, Selim R. F. Hussain, BRAC Bank has neatly caught Bangladesh’s journey from poverty straitjacket to middle income developing country status; a march led mainly by legions of small traders and manufacturers who BRAC Bank has captured as customers in numbers.

With a 51 per cent stake in the country’s dominant mobile payments operator, bKash, that has recently become the acknowledged global leader in mobile financial services, BRAC Bank has been awarded the “Best Digital Bank” in Bangladesh.

As befits a bank that springs from a charity, CSR is part of BRAC Bank’s DNA. BRAC Bank supports the famous ProthomAlo Trust Scholarship, which educates students from poor families who ordinarily cannot afford higher learning. BRAC Bank invests in CSR programs that have long term impact on the people and society which include BRAC University scholarships, Dhaka University Business Studies Faculty Scholarships, Bengal Classical Music Festival, Daily Star O&A Level Students Program, Nazrul Music Festival, CRP-Savar, Diabetic Society, Burn Unit of Chittagong City Corporation Hospital, artificial limb transplant with Moyeen Foundation and safe drinking water for the former enclave people etc.
