The government has asked authorities to place greater emphasis on project feasibility, local stakeholder engagement and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) financing while formulating new development projects for the civil aviation and tourism sector.
The directive came at a review meeting held at the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry in Dhaka on Monday to assess ongoing projects and proposed new projects awaiting approval under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for FY2026-27.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP, said new projects should be planned in line with the Prime Minister’s directives, taking into account their feasibility, long-term viability and future expansion potential.
She said projects should complement one another while ensuring meaningful participation of local communities in the implementation process. The minister also instructed officials to expedite ongoing projects and complete them within the stipulated timeframe.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, said project planning should be aligned with the government’s election manifesto. He urged officials to reduce dependence on direct government funding and pursue the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model wherever feasible.
He added that development projects should deliver tangible benefits to the people and contribute to building a developed Bangladesh.
State Minister for Planning Md. Jonaid Abdur Rahim Shaki, MP, along with senior officials from the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, the Planning Ministry and other relevant agencies, attended the meeting.
