The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL) on Monday announced the sale of four protein items at subsidised rates in the capital during Ramadan starting February 28.
Beef to be sold at Tk 650 a kg, eggs at Tk 9.50 each, or Tk 114 a dozen, dressed broiler chicken at Tk 250 a kg, and milk at Tk 80 per litre.
Farida Akhter, the MoFL adviser, made the announcement during a press conference held at the Secretariat.
She said the initiative to sell the items from trucks will run from first to 28th of Ramadan.
The truck sales initiative to prioritise areas that saw significant public participation during last year's July Revolution, as well as slum areas, to ensure accessibility for all.
The designated sales points include: the Secretariat (Abdul Gani Road), Khamarbari (Farmgate), Sixty-Feet Road (Mirpur), Azimpur Maternity Center (Azimpur), Nayabazar (Old Dhaka), Banasri, Hazaribagh (Section), Arambagh (Motijheel), Mohammadpur (Babar Road), Kalshi (Mirpur), Jatrabari (Manik Nagar Lane), Shahajadpur (Badda), Korail Slum, Banani, Kamrangir Char, Khilgaon (Rail Crossing), Nakhalpara (Lukas Intersection), Segun Bagicha (Kacha Bazar), Bosila (Mohammadpur), Uttara (House Building), Rampura Bazaar, Mirpur 10, Kalyanpur (Jhilpar), Tejgaon, Old Dhaka (Bangabazar) and Kakrail.
The sales campaign will officially commence at 10:30 am on February 28 at Merul Badda in the capital.
