Grameenphone, the country's leading telecommunications service provider, has launched a landmark initiative titled 'Grameenphone One', aimed at transforming the telco landscape with a bold focus on innovation, customer-centricity, and digital empowerment.
The initiative signals the company's evolution from a conventional telecom operator to a forward-looking telco-tech service provider, committed to meeting the needs of digitally-driven users in a rapidly changing world.
The launch event, held on Wednesday at a hotel in Dhaka, brought together top regulators, company executives, and industry stakeholders. Major General (retd) Md Emdad Ul Bari, Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), attended the programme as the chief guest, while BTRC Vice Chairman Md Abu Bakar Siddique and several Director Generals were also present.
Grameenphone's top leadership -- Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman, Chief Marketing Officer Farha Naz Zaman, Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam, Chief Business Officer Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid, and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Tanveer Mohammad -- outlined the vision and key features of Grameenphone One, positioning it as a strategic platform to introduce next-generation digital services.
At the heart of the event was a dedicated launch pad where Grameenphone unveiled a series of innovative services designed to enhance users' daily digital lives. Among the new offerings were a digital security gateway named GP Shield, a robust protection against online threats; Bioscope+, an aggregator platform offering seamless access to content from Chorki, Hoichoi, and nine other OTT services; and One Games, a comprehensive online gaming platform with over 5,000 titles.
The event also highlighted major upgrades in network services, wireless home broadband under the GPFi brand, and Alo, an IoT-based solution tailored for smart living.
Guests, partners, and media professionals experienced these innovations firsthand through an interactive product showcase zone set up at the venue. The experience centre reflected Grameenphone's commitment to building a future-oriented digital ecosystem anchored in customer needs and technological advancement.
Addressing the audience, BTRC Chairman Emdad Ul Bari lauded the initiative as a meaningful stride toward a unified digital ecosystem, emphasising that tools like GP Shield would play a crucial role in ensuring secure and responsible connectivity.
He noted that value-driven services, integrated platforms, and strategic partnerships would be key to expanding digital access and improving the user experience.
He also commended the company's investments in entertainment and network optimisation as part of its broader commitment to innovation and quality service.
Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman, in his remarks, highlighted the growing potential of Bangladesh's youth -- describing them as creators, gamers, freelancers, and dreamers who are already shaping the digital future.
He said Grameenphone One was designed for them, offering fast, secure, and empowering connectivity tools tailored to their ambitions.
"This is more than just technology," he said. "It's a commitment to stand beside the next generation as they lead the way forward."
