CHATTOGRAM: The imposition of additional taxes on trucks and covered vans in the current fiscal year will increase the costs for businesspeople and directly impact commodity prices, said President of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Mohammad Amirul Haque.
Such additional taxes in this sector would hinder the government's ability to achieve its desired goals of curbing inflation and reducing the cost of doing business, he said.
He made the remarks at a view-exchange meeting held at the Chamber office on Sunday with the leaders of the Inter-District Goods Transport Agency Truck and Covered Van Owners' Association.
Among others, CCCI Vice-President Mohammad Masiul Alam Swapan; Directors Md. Jahidul Hasan, Asad Iftekhar, and Mohammad Shafiul Alam (Badsha); Vice-Presidents of the Inter-District Goods Transport Agency Truck and Covered Van Owners' Association A.K.M. Nabiul Haque Sumon and Azharul Haque Azad; acting General Secretary Arifur Rahman Rubel were present at the meeting.
