Jubilee USA Network has called for providing permanent debt relief to Caribbean and small islands, including Dominica and Barbuda, ahead of the next hurricane season.

The people are still recovering from the last hurricane season, said its executive director Eric LeCompte in a media statement.

There is a growing consensus among a number of decision making bodies about giving permanent debt relief to them, he added. “We must all act quickly as the next hurricane season begins in just a few weeks.”

The Jubilee USA is an alliance of more than 75 US organisations and 650 faith communities working with 50 Jubilee global partners.
