DU signs MoU with ICAB

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Finance of Dhaka University (DU) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) was signed on Wednesday.

The signing ceremony was held at the Business Studies Faculty Conference Room of the university to promote chartered accountancy profession in the country, says a press release.

DU’s Department of Finance Chairman Professor Dr Md Kismatul Ahsan and ICAB President Adeeb Hossain Khan FCA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam,  ICAB’s Vice-President Mostafa Kamal FCA, Council Member A F Nesaruddin FCA and some other faculty members of DU Finance Department were present, among others, on this occasion.

The department’s Assistant Professor Mohammad Salahuddin Chowdhury FCA, moderated the programme. 

According to the MoU, students of DU Finance Department who will complete their BBA and MBA programmes will enjoy exemptions from some papers of chartered accountancy studies for entering into the ICAB professional programme.

VC Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the ICAB authorities for signing the MoU and hoped that it would play an important role to enhance professional skills of DU students.  He called upon the students to make themselves as skilled human resources by utilising this opportunity.
