DU student ends hunger strike on assurance of DUCSU polls

A Dhaka University student, who went on hunger strike demanding election to Dhaka University Central Student's Union(DUCSU)by December 16, ended it on Saturday on the assurance of the university authorities.

The varsity authority assured that the election would be arranged soon.

Walid Ashraf, an evening masters' student of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, went on hunger strike on November 25 in front of the house of the DU Vice-Chancellor.

DU VC along with the proctor and Maksud Kamal, general secretary of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) visited Walid in the morning, said DU proctor Golam Rabbani, according to UNB report.

He ended the strike when Vice Chancellor M Akhtaruzzaman assured him of taking steps for arranging the polls soon, he said.
