IUB organises Inter School & College TT Tournament

The Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has organised the ‘Inter School & College Table Tenis (TT) Tournament 2019’ on its campus at Bashundhara area of the capital.

The four-day tournament ended on Monday with the grand finale and prize giving ceremony.

Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, President of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation, was present at the ceremony as the Chief Guest, says a media release.

Trustee Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury, Former Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the IUB, and; Azam Khan, Chief Communication Officer, representative of Mutual Trust Bank, the sponsor of the tournament, were present at the event and distributed the prizes among the winners.

Ebenezer International School, Dhaka, became the Champion in both girls & boys’ team categories while the DP SSTS won the trophy in college category.

In school girls’ singles category, Erin Reine Buhaiyo from Ebenezer Int. and in boy’s category, Mohammad Junaid from Lalbag Govt. Model School & College, became champions.

Ayesha Ashraf and Hasibur Rahman from DP SSTS won men & women’s tittles in college category.

Champion team received Tk 5,000 and runner-up team got Tk 4,000 as prize-money along with a crest.

A total of 15 schools and colleges participated in the tournament.

Mutual Trust Bank Limited sponsored the event.

Chief Guest Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, appreciated IUB for organising such tournament.

He expressed his anticipation for future large collaboration with IUB to organise the TT tournaments.

Trustee Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury declared on the occasion that the IUB will provide the TT coaching fully free to the students whoever shows interest.

Prof. M. Omar Rahman appreciated skills to the players who performed in the tournament and hoped to see national champion among them.
