IUB organises seminar on climate change funding policy

The School of Environmental Science and Management of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has organised a seminar on `Climate Change Funding Policy’ at its campus in Dhaka.

Dr Md Saifur Rahman, Senior Assistant Chief, Ministry of Environment and Forest, was the keynote speaker of the seminar on Sunday, according to a press release.

Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Management of the university Dr Md Abdul Khaleque started the programme with a brief introduction.

Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, attended the seminar as the chief guest. He delivered his speech highlighting effective use of funds for implementing environmental policy in Bangladesh.

Dr Rahman focused on the national and international dimension of climate change policies, key points of climate change negotiations and climate change policies and plans of the country.

He said, “Funding is a critical policy instrument and we need global commitment but local action right at this point of time,” said the statement.

Deans and heads of different schools and departments, senior members of the faculty and administration and a large number of students attended the seminar.
