Actor and former WWE superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony on Dec 13.

"Everyone loves Dwayne Johnson! We predict that his star will be a very popular one to visit on our famous walk. Not only does Dwayne have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame," said Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, in a statement posted on official website Tuesday.

The 45-year-old rose to prominence during WWE's "Attitude Era" in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His rivalry with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is one of the most legendary in wrestling history, says the Bleacher Report.

He then transitioned into film, gradually working his way up from his appearance as the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns (2001) to starring roles in The Fast and the Furious franchise and other movies.

Johnson was the world's highest earning actor of 2016 and the second-highest earning actor this year, having netted $65 million, according to Forbes. His films have grossed nearly $3 billion at the box office.

He will next be seen in 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle', alongside Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, according to global agencies.
