More than 300 poor and distressed eye patients received free treatment at a daylong free eye camp held on Monday at Amashu Kukrul Progoti High School ground in Rangpur city.
The Deep Eye Care Foundation (DECF) with assistance of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) organised the eye treatment camp in the city.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa inaugurated the camp followed by selection of cataract patients for cost-free surgeries under the ‘Free Cataract Surgeries Project’ of DECF.
City Councillor Bilkis Begum, social workers Azmal Hossain Lebu, Shahadat Hossain and Saiful Islam Ripan were present among others at the event. The meeting was moderated by Research Associate of DECF Feroz Alam Saifullah, reports BSS.
Feroz Alam Saifullah discussed activities of the financially self-supporting DECF that provides services to the rich and poor alike at its hospital located at Darshona area of the divisional city.
Mayor Mostafa hoped that the joint collaboration of DECF and RpCC would effectively provide quality treatment to all eye patients of Rangpur city.
After providing free treatment to 300 eye patients, eye specialists of DECF selected 43 cataract patients and two patients suffering from enlarged muscles in eyes for conducting surgeries at their own hospital.
